Commander and Chief Executive Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Cdr. 'Seni Ogunyemi, has charged officers and men in the agency to be efficient and discharge their duties responsibly.
Cdr. Ogunyemi stated this during a day symposium with the theme, "Legality of Traffic Management: An Overview Of The TRACE Law Of Ogun State", for officers in Ogun Central, at the Staff Development Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, saying the training was organised for officers to be conversant with laws and responsibilities governing the agency.
The TRACE boss, who enjoined them to be strategic in handling public issues and protect road users at all times, tasked them to be passionate on the job, be diligent, upright and perform their duties in the interest of government and the people.
Earlier, the Area Commander, Abeokuta and environs, Cdr. Idowu Sonde, said the gathering was a demonstration of government’s commitment to enhancing the skills and knowledge of all operatives, noting that their roles in ensuring safety of road users was critical and require constant update on latest techniques, technologies and best practices.
In his lecture, the guest speaker, who is also the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Barr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora, while speaking on "Understanding Public Service Rules For TRACE Officers, Ensuring Compliance and Accountability", said the agency should maintain discipline and desist from any improper behaviour such as, dishonesty, improper dressing, corruption, insubordination, emphasising that TRACE officers must acquaint themselves with the Public Service Rules.
Also speaking, the facilitator, Director of Legal Services in the agency, Barr. Toyin Sonoiki, explained that, TRACE law was necessary in carrying out their duties, as it gives power to apprehend offenders and impound vehicles with the assistance of security agents.
Speaking on behalf of other participants, Officers Enitan Babatunde and Olaoluwa Familusi from Abeokuta and Obantoko Area Commands, expressed optimism that the training would enable them to be more informed about laws guiding TRACE operations in the state.
